Sue was initially drawn to yoga during pregnancy. She returned to the mat in her forties after acknowledging the gym and pounding the pavement were causing repetitive injuries.

Through yoga, Sue found greater physical and mental strength both on and off the mat, leading her to study yoga.  She qualified as a Level 1 yoga teacher through Byron Yoga Centre in NSW.  Purna (integrated) yoga is Hatha based yoga with a focus on alignment and incorporating yoga philosophy on the mat and in daily life. A perfect holistic approach for a modern lifestyle.

Sue is also a certified kids yoga teacher through Rainbow Kids Yoga (RKY) and is available for school bookings.

Sue brings warmth and enthusiasm to her classes with a focus on enjoyment and safe stretching in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Helen is a Buddhist practitioner and meditation teacher.
Helen’s Meditation + Mindfulness class will bring you to full relaxation while focusing on mindful breathing. Mindful breathing brings calmness and clarity to the mind. Helen likes to remind us of a quote by Thich Nhat Hanh, the popular zen master:

“Breathing in this way can make you feel really wonderful inside.”

The Meditation + Mindfulness class is designed to create a safe space where people can feel comfortable sharing their experiences with meditation, feel supported on their journey and receive guidance to inner peace. The teachings will bring the participant gently to a quiet space within through gentle stretches, breathing exercise, meditation and full body relaxation.

No skill is required, which is perfect for people that are going to attend.

Maria Ogden

It is never too late to change the path your life takes. Discovering yoga helped Maria make positive changes in her late 40’s at a time when she was nursing a number of injuries from doing a lot of competitive sport in her 20’s and later on becoming a gym junkie.

Maria spent a number of years teaching at the Secondary level, running her own business and later on working in the Real Estate Industry.  She experienced first- hand what stress can do to the body, mind and breath.

Maria’s yoga teacher training has been primarily in Hatha Yoga with YOGA- NRG based in Queensland. She also completed training in Yin Yoga, Prana/Vinyasa Flow with Simon Park from the USA a student of Shiva Rea and numerous courses in meditation and pranayama (breath control.) Maria likes to combine classic and creative Hatha Vinyasa, Yin focusing on holding asanas to relax the body and influence the connective tissue (fascia) in the body often responsible for tightness and stiffness. Props such as blankets, straps, bolsters and blocks are used where necessary to help the student connect with their innermost being.

Helen Stratus

Helen has been teaching Yoga and Creative Dance to children for six years and has been regularly practicing both during that time.  She has completed both her Creative Dance and Yoga training under the guidance of Peter Hockey of Mangala Studios of Yoga and Creative Dance. Prior to teaching yoga and dance, Helen worked in the I.T. industry.

Helen feels that her training has provided her with an understanding of the true essence of yoga. Her training has been greatly inspired by the teachings of TKV Desikachar, son of Sri T Krishnamacharya who strongly emphasized the concept of vinyasa krama – structuring a yoga practice intelligently, using a step by step approach.

Within her class, the yoga principle of ‘sthira’ and ‘’sukha’ (steadiness and comfort) are greatly emphasized for each individual. All asanas are gradually moved into, using a sequential approach that uses the breath as the link. Helen sees the entire class as a meditation. The focus is on the spirit that is created by the practice, rather than the achievement of the ‘perfect’ asana. Her aim is to encourage each student to be really ‘present’ during their practice so that they can feel the inner peace that yoga brings.

Helen is a Level 1 member of Yoga Australia. Helen’s classes are beginner to intermediate and consist of asana, pranayama and relaxation.
